How Plant Managers Support an Engaged CI Culture

Have you wondered if you are doing the right things to build trust with your workforce, so they feel seen and empowered?

Awareness is the key!

Right now, your power to create next level performance is either hard at work, stuck and unable to access their amazing potential, or getting ready to eventually return to work, may be dreading it. And, from my experience, a few of them are thinking:

  1. I need to change so that I can do the right things and get results.

  2. I have not done well enough and I am not good enough.

  3. What I do is either good or bad, right or wrong.

The above are often unconscious thoughts. The conscious thoughts are more like:

  1. Leadership doesn't listen to us, because they're only interested in their own agenda.

  2. No matter what I do, my performance rating stays the same.

  3. I'm not going to say anything, because this is not my hill to die on.

All of those are just thoughts, none of them are true. But, these are the negative vibes that keep your workforce stuck, generating the same behaviors and expecting you to fix it.

But what can you do about it, as their leader? What can you do to help them be successful at work? The version that's high-performing and has its own agency.

I think it would be helpful if you shared this perspective with them in a 1:1 meeting or group setting, like a Teams video call or town hall meeting.

What if everything that has happened was required so they could learn a lesson? What if they were uniquely born to learn the lesson, and no one can learn it like them, so that they can share what they've learned with others in their own way? What is the lesson and what could it mean going forward?
What if they believed everything that has happened is not bad, it just is? And, what they are making it mean is what is making bad? What else could it mean?
What if they showed themselves grace and gave themselves a little time to consider this new perspective?

I promise it will change everything about how you connect with your workforce and create a shift in how they see themselves through their work.

It helps them let go of resistance and judgment about themselves, which are usually unconscious, so their creative ideas can flow to them over a calm mind.

Their resistance (the 3 listed above) is like a mental block right now. It might be creating waves and ripples in their minds that prevent them from recognizing opportunities for improvement, as well as the best sustainable solutions. It also stops them from becoming the best they can be, because they're capable of so much more than they think is possible.

Connecting on a deep level, through awareness and a growth mindset, can transform your workforce and performance. How to connect is often a blind spot for some people.

At Estrella, we help plant managers uncover their blind spots, so a CI culture can flourish.

Might have some blind spots when it comes to CI? Interested in uncovering them in a 30 minute call? Just send me a message saying "I'm interested." The call will be confidential, and you don't have to disclose any names or confidential business information to begin to uncover root causes.

It would be my pleasure to help.
